Fire and Ice Bubble Tip Anemones (BTA)

The Fire and Ice BTA is one of the most vibrant anemones I’ve ever collected. I originally acquired them from a client who purchased them over 12 years ago but needed to rehome them before moving across the country. Since then, a friend and I have been aquaculturing them for the past 8 years, ensuring they thrive in captivity.

Under blue LEDs, they glow intensely, but they also stand out beautifully under full-spectrum lighting. Their unique coloration starts with a dark oral disk, transitioning into green base tentacles, then a vibrant orange, and finally, green tips. These anemones stay bubbled about 80% of the time, making them a rarity among BTAs. They are also notably resilient and handle parameter swings better than most.

Like many anemones, they go through phases where their colors slightly fade, but they always return to their brilliant, fiery hues, making me fall in love with them all over again. These are among the hardiest and most rewarding BTAs I’ve ever aquacultured. Once you add one to your reef, you’ll be just as amazed as I was from the start.
